Last night I saw you dance.

I’d been your phone escort driving to your Tuesday dancing for several months. Last night I was your escort in person. What a joy!

Besides the physical activity, dance is a wonderful metaphor. And it applies to us. We find ourselves dancing in a new chapter of our lives. No music is required.

Most of the attendees of the dance last night are entering their twilight years – not so different than us. But each one I met was cheerful, vibrant, and full of enthusiasm for the moment. Again – not unlike us.

I’ve heard it said that happiness is a choice. Regardless – we’ve made a choice to share our lives – and we’re not just happy about it. I feel content. At peace. Confident. Optimistic. And more.

I’ll be learning new dance steps in joining this dance group – just as we’re learning our own new steps in our partnership. I like learning new things. And lord knows I need to spend more time on my feet.

How wonderful to wake up every morning and feeling like dancing.
