The View

It’s a nice view here – sitting at the dining table and looking out over the Pacific.

But what’s really nice are the sounds of kids getting ready for school. The coffee machine brewing up another cup. People coming down the stairs. The announcement that breakfast is almost ready.

It’s a window into your daughter’s family life. I’m lucky to be a witness to the day unfolding here. I’m learning to blend in.

Blending – that’s a good word. We’re blending lives and families. Plans and futures. Hopes and dreams. It feels nice.

It’s tempting to do comparisons. Our past mornings with the families we’ve created and those we’ve visited. But we don’t – because all that matters is now.

Sitting here, I have a nice view of now.
