Mornings

Today I’m reminded how special mornings are with you.

Like ducklings learning to waddle to follow their mom, we stumble around the kitchen making hot beverages, stealing kisses, asking about the night’s sleep, and laughing at our foibles and follies. It’s hard to imagine a happier time.

Our mornings are the bookend of dating. We’re not trying to make good impressions that lead to a future. We’re living in our future. We’re admiring the view.

As an early riser, I enjoy a few hours of near silent home noises. The whir of the refrigerator. Quiet rush of cars passing on the distant highway. It’s a hush that fosters contemplation and enjoyment. I miss the warmth of our bed, but the quilt from your mom’s home protects me from the cold and lets you sleep a few hours more. Back on Quilting Bee Cove it’s time to feed the cats.

I like doing my early correspondence early in the mornings. My head is clear. I feel unburdened. I am happy. It’s easier for me to write well when I’m happy.

When we make plans for the day, we have no trouble determining what’s a “must do” and “like to do.” Making plans for any further out are mostly brainstorming ideas. Its wonderful to dream of the future together.

It’s time for more tea.
